Hi I am Stefanos Papavasileiou, 28 years old and I am from Athens, Greece. I currently live in Utrecht.
My studies include Electrical Engineering as BSc and then Computer science MSc. After finishing my thesis on 3D Deep Learning (August 2020) my professor encouraged me to start working as a Software engineer / Research associate in the visualisation and virtual reality laboratory of University of Patras, Greece.
I worked there for almost 2 years on European funded projects that mainly focused on Deep learning, software development and web development. I decided to relocate to the Netherlands to fulfil my ambition and start working in production in tech leading companies.
What do you do in your free time?
I love playing football and basketball. I consider myself a passionate cook and also a really enthusiastic live music person. Last but not least I enjoy camping with friends and also playing chess.
What is your best quality?
Based upon what others have said it’s honesty, detail orientation and humor. I think I am pretty observant too, that helps me in my everyday and working life.
What is you biggest study or work life blunder?
Well not relocating earlier can be considered a blunder by my side, but I was younger and afraid of living too far from family and friends.
What is your favourite tv-series or game?
I enjoy watching the Soprano’s and when friends approve, play some board games together.
Why did you choose this job at Ndus3?
Starting a new career abroad needs to be well defined by your side to be successful. I gave a lot of credit to Ndus3 ethics and straightforward mentality. I enjoy being part of a friendly team that is willing to solve problems together and be always there for each other.
What do you want to achieve in your work the coming year?
I want to gain more experience in software development and also maintenance of project structure. I wish to be involved in really enthusiastic projects that have a solid influence in life but also help my team achieve its goals.
What working-field would you like to explore or even end-up in?
I think for now pretty much every field that involves engineering is a very nice option for me. I would prefer to be involved with projects in the automotive and manufacturing sector but I am also willing to participate in graphics and visualisation projects
For what can we wake you up in the middel of the night?
If you want a place to spend the night or have some personal trouble I would be glad to hear from you and if I could help you.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Sometimes I enjoy to listen to some music I listened to when I was in high school. I also love to rewatch some of the classic movies for children like Toy Story.
