Hello, I’m Marios, 34, originally from Albania. I grew up in Greece since I was 5 and I have been in the Netherlands since 2015. I pursued a Game Development degree at Saxion University of Applied Sciences and afterwards I followed my passion and joined the workforce as a Software Engineer.
I am knowledge oriented and I thrive and take joy in tackling difficult problems and learning new things. During my studies I participated in different projects, searching to expand my knowledge in different domains till I fell in love with programming as a whole and solving complex tasks.
After my studies I concluded that Game Development would eventually become too simple so I switched to Software Engineering, which has more possibilities and revolves around more fields which means more knowledge to be had. My first project was embedded software development which forwarded my growth into further and achieved real-world work experience whilst also learning about the world of embedded systems. The challenges and the work was what I always wanted to do. Each day solving issues and computing the logic for the robotic machinery to function.
Now, at Ndus3, I hope to continue my growth even further and become a Senior software developer, thus allowing me to eventually share my knowledge with my newest peers.
What do you do in your free time?
My free time is never the same and it changes on a monthly basis. The only hobby that has been consistent so far has been bouldering which I happily do with friends on a weekly basis. Other than that my hobbies vary. From woodworking, gardening, renovating to home automation and experimenting with stm32 boards.
What is your best quality?
My friends would probably say my humour or the fact that I’m a reliable friend. Always there for my friends when they need me.
What is your biggest study mistake?
Not graduating with honours. I could have easily achieved it as I obtained a high grade on the hardest subjects but my motivation dropped when it came down to the theory-based subjects. A goal such as honours would have helped me stay motivated no matter how interesting the subject was.
What is your favourite tv-series or game?
When it comes to games, FFX has been my all time favourite. The story is multi-dimensional, touching politics, love, family, friendship and growth.
As for tv-series, the latest to have made me lose myself in it has been Hellbound. It really gets your blood boiling seeing the craziness of the cults portrayed in the series.
Why did you choose this job at Ndus3?
During my interviews with Ndus3, I got the feeling that the company is really focused on the engineers and the vibes were positive. I believed they were genuine which made me want to join and be part of the company.
What do you want to achieve in your work in the coming year?
I would like to gain more experience with programming languages, especially C++. I hope to also continue improving my Dutch so I can communicate with my colleagues in their native language.
For what can we wake you up in the middle of the night?
Please don’t. I need my beauty sleep! But if you must, it better be a life-or-death situation.
